Villa and Forest Discover League Phase Opposition in Europa League

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have discovered their opposition for the League Phase of 2025-26 UEFA Europa League. 

Unai Emery’s Villains will face a reunion with Young Boys who they beat 3-0 away in the league phase of last season’s UEFA Champions League – albeit this time at home, whilst they will also face another reunion with Bologna who they beat 2-0 at home last season.

Red Bull Salzburg and Maccabi Tel Aviv will also visit Villa Park, whilst Villa will face two Dutch trips as they head to Feyenoord and Go Ahead Eagles, alongside visits to Basel and Fenerbahce who had sacked Jose Mourinho just hours before the draw.

Forest’s first European campaign since 1995-96 season sees them face Porto, Ferencvaros, FC Midtjylland and Malmo at the City Ground, whilst they will jet off to Real Betis, Braga, Sturm Graz and Utrecht for their away trips.

Scottish champions, Celtic are also in this stage of the competition after a shock Champions League exit to Kairat Almaty and have been handed home ties against; Roma, Braga, Sturm Graz and Utrecht.

Brendan Rogers’ Hoops will visit Feyenoord, Red Star Belgrade, FC Midtjylland and Bologna in their four away games.

Rangers were also handed home ties against Roma and Braga at Ibrox, which will also play host to Ludogorets Razgrad and Genk.

Russell Martin’s Gers will visit Porto, Ferencvaros, Sturm Graz and Brann.

Matches will be played between 24 September 2025 – 29 January 2026, with the top eight advancing automatically to the round of 16, whilst those placed ninth to 24th will enter the knockout play-offs across 19 and 26 February.
