Midfielder, Morgan Gautrat has joined Newcastle on a season-long loan from Orlando Pride.
Gautrat has made 31 appearances for Pride since her move from Kanas City Currents in January 2024 in a year which saw them achieve the NWSL Shield and NWSL Championship double.
This move marks Gautrat’s second club outside of the USA after she spent the second half of 2017-18 season at France’s Lyon where she won the Division 1 Feminine title and she is excited to begin life with the Magpies, with ambitions to step up as a leader during her time in England.
“It’s been a warm welcome, and I feel like I’ve been welcomed with open arms, and people have told me nothing but nice things about the city and the fans.
“I’m at a point in my career where I want to be a leader and want to be a part of making a mark and a legacy at a place like this at Newcastle to make history.”
Newcastle Women’s manager, Becky Langley added: “We are absolutely delighted to be adding a player of Morgan’s quality and experience to our squad.
“She has performed at the highest level for her whole career and brings with her a world class mentality having won some of the biggest trophies in the game for both club and country.
“Morgan is a leader, and she will bring so much on and off the pitch for us. We are excited to start working with her.”
Gautrat began her senior club career with Houston Dash between 2015-17 before she joined Chicago Red Star for a year prior to her brief spell at Lyon, only to return to Chicago Red Star after scoring twice in five appearances in Lyon.
She went on to score six goals in 68 appearances for Chicago Red Star before she moved to Kanas City Currents then Orlando Pride.
The 32-year-old midfielder represented USA between 2013 – 22 during which she was part of 2015 & 19 Women’s World Cup winning squads, plus helped them to the following titles;
- 3 x SheBelieves Cup
- 2 x CONCACAF Championship
- 1 x Algarve Cup
- 1 x Tournament of Nations
Gautrat scored eight goals in 88 senior appearances for USA.
