2025-26 Premier League: Week Two – Bournemouth vs Wolves

Bournemouth meet Wolves at Vitality Stadium as both teams chase a first win of the season.

Victory will see Bournemouth stay out of the relegation zone, whilst Wolves can move off the foot of the table with at least a draw.

Team News

Bournemouth could welcome Justin Kluivert (calf) and Ryan Christie (groin) back into contention after the pair missed their opening-day defeat at Liverpool.

Enes Unal (knee) and Lewis Cook (knee) remain absent.

Ben Doak and Amine Adli are available for selection following their arrivals from Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report with only Leon Chiwone (ACL) ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Wolves at Vitaliy Stadium on Saturday 23 August at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have lost two of their last six league meetings against Wolves (W3, D1, L2).
  • Wolves are yet to lose away at Bournemouth in the Premier League (W3, D2).
  • Each of Bournemouth’s last two home games against Wolves in all competitions saw a red card shown, as ex Cherries defender – Illya Zabarnyi was sent off in a league clash in February then ex Wolves forward, Matheus Cunha in a FA Cup clash in March.
  • Bournemouth’s last four goals scored at home were all netted by Antoine Semenyo.
  • Wolves have won four of their last six away games (W4, L2).

Prediction

Victory was always a near-impossibility for Bournemouth at Anfield but to their credit, they didn’t roll over for the reigning champions and instead took the game to them on a series of quick breakaway attacks, yet small defensive errors ultimately cost them a deserved point.

Wolves likewise were in a near-impossibility situation at home to Man City but they just lacked the final touch quality needed to beat James Trafford, whilst their defence were just clinically outclassed by City so they just need to put that defeat to the side and knuckle down here.

In fact, this does feel like a season kick-starter for both teams but if Bournemouth can deliver the same attacking quality as we saw at Anfield, I fancy them to break their home duck in this specific fixture.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Wolves

Result: Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves
