Middlesbrough have signed midfielder, Sverre Nypan on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Nypan joined City in July but the Norwegian Under-21s international is considered a long-term investment by club bosses, who have sanctioned the 18-year-old’s loan to Boro to gain regular first-team experience within English football.

This season also marks Nypan’s first taste of a winter football league, having previously only known a summer football league because Norway’s top flight – Eliteserien plays their league season from early spring to November/December.

Nypan began his career with his local team, Nardo in Trondheim, Norway before he joined Rosenborg in 2020 albeit initially in their academy, before he made his senior debut in November 2022 at just 15 years and 322 days old.

He since went on to score 14 goals in 70 total appearances, including eight goals in 30 appearances across the 2024 season alone.

At international level, Nypan currently represents Norway having made his debut at Under-15s level in 2021 and is now part of the Under-21s squad.
