Manchester United have signed Swedish forward, Fridolina Rolfo on a free transfer.

Rolfo left Barcelona in early July after four years at the Catalonian club where she had won 11 titles in all competitions consisting of;

  • 4 x Primera Division
  • 3 x Copa de la Reina,
  • 2 x Supercopa de Espana
  • 2 x UEFA Women’s Champions League

Man Utd subsequently swooped to sign the 31-year-old ahead of the new season which sees the Red Devils enter the Women’s Champions League in the second round of qualifying on 27 August 2025.

Rolfo has signed a two-year contract until June 2027 and is excited to become part of Man Utd and is keen to bring success to Old Trafford, having enjoyed titles at three of her five previous clubs – Linkoping, Wolfsburg and Barcelona.

“It’s really exciting to be joining Manchester United, not just because of the size and history of the club, but also to become part of the journey the club is on in the women’s game.

“I have been fortunate to enjoy lots of success at Barcelona and other clubs I have played for, and now I want the same at Manchester United.

“The WSL is probably the strongest league in the world right now, so that was a big part of the appeal of coming here, as well as the chance to help the team establish itself in the Champions League. I can’t wait to work with Marc, his staff and my new team-mates and get started with this new adventure in my career.”

Utd’s Director of Women’s Football, Matt Johnson added that Rolfo “will add quality and experience to our squad, and the winning mentality of someone with over 20 major honours and 100 international caps.”

Rolfo began her senior career at Sweden’s Jitex with 16 goals in 65 appearances before she moved to Linkoping where she managed 29 goals in 68 appearances, during which they won two Svenska Cup titles and 2016 Damallsvenskan league title.

November 2016 saw Rolfo switch to Germany’s Bayern Munich which yielded 24 goals in 51 appearances prior to a move to Wolfsburg in May 2019, where she helped them win 2019-20 Frauen Bundesliga plus two DFB-Pokal Frauen titles in two seasons.

July 2021 saw Barcelona sign Rolfo in her most successful move so far in her career with 38 goals in 123 appearances and 11 aforementioned titles.

Rolfo represents Sweden at international level in which she has achieved 33 goals in 101 senior caps, with her 33rd goal having come on her 100th appearance as Sweden thrashed Germany to win Group B at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 but the Swedes lost to eventual champions – England in the Quarter-Finals.
