Forward, Joe Gelhardt has joined Championship’s Hull City on a season-long loan from Leeds United.
Gelhardt spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull during which he scored five goals in 20 appearances as the Tigers ultimately avoided relegation to League One on goal difference on the final day with a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth.
Leeds have since sanctioned Gelhardt’s return to Hull on a full season-long loan for the 2025-26 campaign amidst the arrival of manager, Sergej Jakirovic on Humberside, following Ruben Selles’ sacking at the end of last season.
Gelhardt though is happy to be back at an “amazing” club despite the change of manager as he spoke fondly of his loan stint last season.
“I loved my time here last year – everyone was so welcoming and friendly. It’s a great club to be at, and the lads have spoken very highly of the new manager.
“The people here, the city, the fans – everything about last season was just the perfect match. I was probably the happiest I’ve been in my football career during the last few months I spent here last year.”
Gelhardt added that the fact that he is back on a season-long loan is a huge positive as he vowed to help the Tigers deliver a better season.
“It’s a season-long loan this time, so being in from the start and having a whole year with the lads is going to be better than three or four months.
“We know we can do a lot better than last season. With the new signings, we’ve got a lot of quality in the team.”
