Birmingham City have signed forward, Marvin Ducksh from Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee.

Birmingham initially saw two bids accepted by Ajax for ex Middlesbrough striker, Chuba Akpom but he snubbed a chance to join the Blues amidst interest from Ipswich, who coincidentally meet Birmingham in the 2025-26 Championship season opener on 8 August.

The Blues consequently swooped for Ducksh who had scored 54 goals and created 40 assists in 134 appearances across the last four seasons at Bundesliga’s Werder Bremen, during which he helped them claim promotion in his first season with the club in 2021-22 campaign.

Ducksh began his career at Fortuna Dortmund in their youth setup but moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2002, where he scored on his senior debut in August 2013 against SV Wilhelmshaven in the first of eight eventual appearances.

He spent 2014-15 on loan at SC Paderborn before he moved to St Pauli in summer 2016, which saw him net twice in 12 appearances before he spent 18 months on loan at Holstein Kiel where he produced 24 goals in 53 appearances.

A return to Fortuna Dortmund followed in 2018-19 season before he joined Hannover 96 in a two-year spell with 34 goals in 70 appearances, before he moved to Werder Bremen in late August 2021.

Ducksh represents Germany at international level where he was part of their youth setup but made just two senior appearances, which both came in 2023 in friendlies against Turkey and Austria.
