Nottingham Forest have signed goalkeeper, Angus Gunn on a free transfer.
Gunn’s arrival at Forest comes after his release from Norwich this summer after 121 appearances for the Canaries across the last four seasons, during which they suffered relegation from the Premier League in his first season as a permanent signing at Carrow Road.
Gunn upon completion of his move admitted that he is excited to be part of the Tricky Trees on an one-year contract until 30 June 2026.
“I am really happy to be here. This is a historic Club on an exciting journey and I’m looking forward to being a part of it and getting to work.
“I’m joining a good group of keepers, and I believe my experience will add something to the team. I can’t wait to get going.”
Forest’s Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson added that the club is “pleased” to sign Gunn following Matt Turner’s move to Lyon, which left Matz Sels and Carlos Miguel as their only two first-team goalkeepers.
“He joins a strong goalkeeping department and adds his experience to the group. I know how much Matz has enjoyed his work with Rui Barbosa, and I’m sure Angus will enjoy that same coaching and support as he settles into the club.”
Gunn began his career with Norwich at youth level but moved to Manchester City in 2011 where he failed to make a senior appearance aside from the substitutes bench, which led him to return to the Canaries on loan in 2017-18 season.
He then spent three years at Southampton across which he made just 30 appearances and was loaned out to Stoke where he only managed 15 appearances due to ankle and foot injuries.
Summer 2021 saw him return to Norwich where he initially battled Tim Krul for the starting spot across 2021-22 season, before he eventually became the first-choice keeper in the last three seasons.
