England’s Michelle Agyemang has praised the Lionesses for “character and fight” in their comeback over Italy to reach UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Final.

Chloe Kelly scored the 119th-minute winner on the rebound after Laura Giulliani blocked her penalty following Emma Severini’s foul on Beth Mead.

England however had stared the end of their title defence down a barrel after Barbara Bonansea put Italy ahead in the 33rd minute from Bronze’s glanced clearance, before substitute, Agyemang struck in the sixth minute of injury time to restore parity.

“I am so proud of the team’s fight and the effort,” reflected Agyemang who had been a ball girl at Wembley Stadium just four years ago, and is now part of the team who dug deep to fight back to secure a third consecutive final appearance in all competitions as she praised their fighting spirit.

“We were down for over 90 minutes and to show that character and the fight, I said it last time, but I am saying it again, it is the character and the strength of this team that has got us this far.”

“It means the world to me, I am so grateful and as I always say, I am so grateful for God and where he has brought me from.”

“Four years ago, I was just a kid, just throwing the ball to some of these girls and now I am here playing with them. A great opportunity and I am so happy I am here.”

Agyemang added that being able to perform in her first major senior tournament “at this level and to be helping out this team is more than I could have wished for, so I am so grateful to be here,” as she spoke of the squad’s unity and celebration.

“It is so special and to see my team celebrate with me, most of these girls I haven’t even known for more than two months, but it shows the togetherness we have in the team, and the fight, the heart and the team spirit that we have.

“To see everyone celebrate with me like that, it is a great team moment and it is definitely going to live in my heart forever.”

With either Germany or Spain awaiting in the final, Agyemang is solely focused on enjoying the occasion.

“We are going to enjoy the moment, but obviously we are into the Final,” iterated the 19-year-old who is ready for one last push to retain the crown. “We have got one more game left and we are ready for it. Whatever is going to happen, we are ready.”
