Poland meet Sweden in a crucial Group C clash at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Victory will see Poland keep their knockout hopes alive but defeat coupled with a draw at minimum between Germany and Denmark would see them eliminated.
Sweden can go top of Group C if they better Germany’s result or win by a larger goal difference.
Team News
Paulina Dudek is a doubt for Poland after she suffered an injury which saw her substituted at half time in their defeat to Germany.
Sweden could again be without Fridolina Rolfo due to an ankle injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Poland meet Sweden at Swissporarena, Lucerne, Switzerland, on Tuesday 8 July at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Poland’s first meeting against Sweden at UEFA Women’s Euro Finals.
- Sweden have won all four previous meetings against Poland across all phases of UEFA Women’s Euro – which came in Qualifying for 1991 and 2017 editions (W4).
- Poland scored one goal and conceded 13 goals in those four previous clashes against Sweden.
- Victory or a draw would see Poland avoid suffering consecutive defeats, having last done so in July 2024 in the Qualifying phase of this edition.
- Filippa Angeldahl has scored in Sweden’s last three matches (W3).
Prediction
Despite their resilient defensive effort against Germany, Poland were simply outclassed in the final touches and I do feel like it will be more of the same unless they bring more attacking fight and score first.
Sweden though did have to grind out their win over Denmark with a clinical winner but they were crucially dominant and I expect more of the same initially as they work the Polish out, but if they can score early and kick on then I can see them getting a comfortable win.
The key to Sweden’s result though will be to not underestimate Poland but I can’t see any other result coming.
Prediction: Poland 0-2 Sweden
Result: Poland 0-3 Sweden
