Defensive fullback and midfielder, Taylor Hinds has re-joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Liverpool.

Hinds has spent the last five years at Liverpool where she scored eight goals in 131 appearances and was part of the team which won promotion from Women’s Championship to Women’s Super League in 2022.

The 26-year-old however decided to end her stay on Merseyside – having previously represented Everton between 2018 – 20 – to make a return to Arsenal, where she previously graduated through the academy and made two senior appearances in 2017-18 season.

“I’m so proud to have signed for Arsenal,” commented Hinds who will wear the number 24 shirt. “I want to push, compete and be winning trophies – and this club encompasses all of that both on and off the pitch. You can see what direction Arsenal is going in and everyone at the club wants to win.

“This is a full-circle moment for me and I’m grateful to come back to a place I called home when I was younger. I can’t wait to get started and to step out on the pitch at Emirates Stadium in front of all our incredible supporters.”

Women’s Head Coach, Renee Slegers added that she is “delighted” to welcome Hinds back to the club who she hopes will bring versatility in the defence.

“She’s a versatile player who has great experience from multiple seasons in the WSL with Liverpool, where she took on a leadership role.

“I’m excited to get started with Taylor on the training pitch and I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Taylor back to the club.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley added: “Everybody at Arsenal is thrilled to welcome Taylor back to the club where she spent several years at the start of her career. She is a player with great quality and vast experience of top-level football, and will be an excellent addition to our group as we aim to compete on multiple fronts next season.”

Upon confirmation of her departure from Liverpool last Monday (30 June), Hinds issued a farewell statement thanking the Reds’ supporters for their support.

“Dear Reds, I’m sorry I haven’t had the chance to say a proper goodbye.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel so welcome when I joined back in 2020.

“We’ve shared some incredible highs that I’ll never forget – being promoted back into the WSL and then having the chance of taking part in the 2022 parade, which was one of the best days of my life.

“I’ll always be grateful for the love and support I received from all of you – I could always hear you.

“To the managers I’ve worked with and all the staff, thank you for constantly pushing me to be my best and helping me grow both on and off the pitch.

“Being given the opportunity to lead the team out on several occasions was an absolute honour and a moment of real pride.

“To my teammates over the years, some of you have become my friends for life. I truly wish each of you the very best in your futures. We have made some special memories on and off the pitch that will always stay with me.

“I wish nothing but continued success for this team and this club. I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this club and to have worn the shirt – it’s truly been a privilege. Thank you for everything.”
