Five Key Pointers

  • Given that this race often sees many teams bring upgrades, it wouldn’t be a surprise if some teams opt to bring new parts despite the event being held later in season than usual.
  • Five of the last seven Spanish Grands Prix have been won from pole position so Qualifying will be crucial for maximising track position come the race.
  • After two disappointing race performances in Imola and Monaco, Mercedes will be eager to return to peak performance at a circuit where they should be more competitive.
  • Haas’ Oliver Bearman has endured two difficult Qualifying sessions in this triple-header but he and Haas do have the pace to get out of Q1 if enjoy a clean session.
  • After losing momentum across the Monaco GP weekend despite a bright competitive start in practice, Williams will hopefully be more competitive consistently this weekend back on a traditional circuit.

Last Time Out

Norris lost pole position at the start of this event in 2024 to slip to third behind George Russell and Max Verstappen who switched positions on Lap 3, in a move which crucially allowed Verstappen cling on for victory amidst a late-race charge from Norris.
