2024-25 Premier League: Week 38 – Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool conclude their title-winning season with a home clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Arne Slot’s Reds are already champions regardless of the result, whilst Palace can finish tenth with a win if Fulham and Bournemouth lose elsewhere – although ninth is possible if Brentford lose at Wolves with a nine-goal swing in the Eagles’ favour

Team News

Alexis Mac Allister is again ruled out for Liverpool after he missed the defeat at Brighton with a groin injury.

Palace could welcome Marc Guehi back in defence after he missed their 4-2 home win over Wolves, due to concussion which he suffered in their FA Cup title-winning game.

Adam Wharton (concussion), Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure (both knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Palace at Anfield on Sunday 25 May at 4pm BST, live on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK.

Prediction

Although this game feels like a dead rubber for Liverpool, it also doubles as a practice demo for their FA Community Shield meeting against Palace in early August, but they will need to improve their consistency because their first half at Brighton was great then they just fizzled out into defeat in the second half.

Palace meanwhile are one of the in-form teams currently and have a great opportunity to lay down an early marker for the Community Shield, whilst they will also be motivated by the chance of a top-ten finish which will cap a strong week for the Eagles considering their sluggish start to the season.

Liverpool though are receiving the trophy – albeit in front of a crowd for the first time in the Premier League era – post-match so there will be a party atmosphere at Anfield, but if they repeat their Brighton display then Palace will surely gate-crash this bash

Prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Crystal Palace

Result: Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace
