2024-25 Sky Bet League One Play-Offs: Semi Final Second Leg – Charlton vs Wycombe

Charlton Athletic host Wycombe Wanderers in the second leg of their play-off semi-final in 2024-25 League One.

With the tie locked at 0-0 after a goalless first leg, victory will see either Charlton or Wycombe advance to the Play-Off Final on Sunday 25 May even if extra time and penalties are needed.

Team News

Charlton will welcome Chuks Aneke back from his three-match ban.

Miles Leaburn (quad) remains ruled out.

Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns to report after the first leg.

Josh Scowen (ACL), Shamal George (groin), Dan Harvie (knee), Sam Vokes (shoulder) and Bez Lubala (unspecified) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Charlton host Wycombe at The Valley on Thursday 15 May at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Charlton drew 0-0 in their only previous EFL Play-Off meeting against Wycombe, which came away in the first leg of this play-off semi-final tie.
  • Wycombe have won just one of their seven previous league visits to Charlton (W1, D1, L5).
  • Charlton have failed to keep a single clean sheet against Wycombe at home in all competitions, during which they scored 14 goals and conceded 10 goals across eight clashes at The Valley.
  • Nathan Jones’ Addicks have won just two home legs in EFL Play-Offs (W2, L3), although they did beat Doncaster on penalties in 2019 after 4-4 aggregate result following 3-2 second-leg loss at home.
  • Wycombe have avoided defeat in four of six previous away legs in EFL Play-Offs (W3, D1, L2)

Prediction

A combination of nerves, post-season fatigue and having only met three weeks earlier unsurprisingly meant that Charlton’s first leg at Wycombe was goalless, but the Addicks were the slightly more clinical team which is a positive to bring into a home game where they have strong form against the Chairboys.

Wycombe might feel that they really could of done with a goal at home given their poor away record at The Valley but they’ve scored in all eight previous visits, which is a small positive because if they can score first then they can dig in defensively and try to see the game out.

I however do think that this will too be cagey but Charlton might just have the edge if they can continue their fantastic form and ideally score the opener.

Prediction: Charlton 2-1 Wycombe

Result: Charlton 1-0 Wycombe (Charlton win 1-0 on aggregate)
