2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 45 – Monday

Leeds look to move onto the cusp of the Championship title against play-off chasing Bristol City at Elland Road.

Victory would return Leeds to the summit and put the title in their own hands on the final day, whilst Bristol City can guarantee a play-off spot and a fifth-placed finish with a win

Team News

Dan James is a doubt for Leeds after he was rested in their Easter Monday win over Stoke, having recently returned from a hamstring injury.

Joe Rothwell (calf) too is a doubt but Pascal Struijk (foot) and Sam Chambers (illness) won’t be available.

Bristol City could be without Joe Williams after he was an unused substitute during their Easter Monday defeat at Luton, due to a quad injury.

Cam Pring (hamstring) is unlikely to feature but Ayman Benarous (fitness) won’t be risked until he is fully match-fit for selection.

Luke McNally (ACL), Harry Cornick (hamstring) and Mark Sykes (quad) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Leeds host Bristol City at Elland Road on Monday 28 April at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leeds are unbeaten in their last ten meetings against Bristol City (W8, D2).
  • Bristol City are winless in their last nine league visits to Leeds since a 3-1 win in November 1979 (D1, L8).
  • Leeds have kept clean sheets in three of their last four meetings against Bristol City, except for a 2-1 home win in October 2023.
  • Manor Solomon has produced one goal and two assists in Leeds’ last two home matches (W2).
  • Liam Manning’s Robins have won just one of their last 14 away matches (W1, D7, L6).

Prediction

Although rumours suggest that Daniel Farke is on his way out of Leeds despite getting them promoted, I don’t see that fazing the squad too much after a ruthless demolition of Stoke and there is still the title to be won which will still motivate them amidst the unfair off-pitch mumbles about Farke’s future.

Bristol City meanwhile just don’t seem to have much winning spark on the road but this is a great opportunity to end that rut because they have a chance to seal fifth and a play-off spot here, but they first need to be absolutely at their defensive best to shut Leeds down and be clinical up front.

I however just don’t see Farke’s Whites losing this if they turn up and play like they want the title destiny in their own hands on the final day.

Prediction: Leeds 2-0 Bristol City

Result: Leeds 4-0 Bristol City
