2024-25 League 2: Week 37 – Bromley vs Walsall

Bromley look to reignite their play-off push against league leaders, Walsall in a huge League Two showdown at Hayes Lane.

Victory would see Bromley stay tenth and move to within two points of the final play-off spot ahead of the weekend’s action.

Walsall can move five points clear at the summit from second-placed Bradford with a win.

Team News

Michael Cheek is a doubt for Bromley after he was substituted in their 2-1 loss at Tranmere due to injury.

Carl Jenkinson (unspecified) is a doubt but Danny Imray (unspecified) and Marcus Dinanga (ankle) remain ruled out.

Walsall have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 home loss to Grimsby.

Donervon Daniels (calf) remains ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Walsall at Hayes Lane on Thursday 13 March at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bromley drew 2-2 in their only previous meeting against Walsall, which came away from home in the reverse fixture in November 2024.
  • Walsall are making their first-ever EFL visit to Bromley.
  • Bromley have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home matches (W3, L1).
  • Walsall have won one of their last five league trips to London-based opposition (W1, D1, L3).

Prediction

Having endured three physical battles against Bradford, AFC Wimbledon and Doncaster in the space of a week, Bromley certainly blew a huge chance to boost their play-off hopes as they laboured to a disappointing defeat at Tranmere after taking the lead.

Andy Woodman now needs to get his players quickly refocused because a win is now an absolute must if want to keep their play-off ambitions on track, otherwise that defeat will be looked back upon as a season-defining moment although a top-ten finish would be an incredible achievement nevertheless.

Walsall though need to start finding their winning momentum again if want to stay firmly on course for promotion but with one clean sheet since New Year, they are clearly defensively vulnerable as Grimsby exposed with a ruthless comeback display so I do expect them to try and produce a strong reaction.

Bromley though should have the edge given their recent home form if Cheek is available and the fact that this is now must-win will spur them on even more, otherwise they surely will be looking to consolidate an impressive top-half finish for rest of season.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Walsall

Result: Bromley 2-2 Walsall
