Brentford Lacked “killer touch” in View of Frank

Brentford Head Coach, Thomas Frank believes that his team lacked a “killer touch” in their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Ex Brentford striker, Ollie Watkins netted Villa’s winning goal in the 49th minute on a quick counter-attack up the left, following a tense first half in which both teams lacked much end product as Frank explained in his post-match press conference.

“The first half was very even, neither team could really break the deadlock and there were not many decisive moments.

“In the second half, they scored the goal with the deflection which helps. Other than that, we were completely on top in the game.”

Frank proceeded to explain that his Bees simply lacked a sharp final touch to snatch a draw in a game where Villa defender, Axel Disasi proved key to the visitors’ win with an exceptional second-half defensive display.

“We tried crosses into the box and created a lot of dangerous situations, but didn’t have the killer touch on the night. It was a game where I think we deserved much more than what we got.”

Brentford fielded a largely inexperienced youthful-looking substitute selection on the bench, which Frank explained was down to “a minor injury,” for January signing, Michael Kayode, whilst Fabio Carvalho is ruled out after he needed “surgery” on a “dislocated” shoulder.
