2024-25 Premier League: Week 28 – Wolves vs Everton

Wolves continue their fight for Premier League survival against Everton at Molineux.

Victory could move Wolves eight points clear of the drop if Ipswich lose elsewhere earlier in the day, whilst Everton can climb to 13th with a win.

Team News

Matheus Cunha is suspended for Wolves following his red card in their FA Cup exit at Bournemouth last weekend.

Emmanuel Agbadou (hamstring), Rodrigo Gomes (unspecified) and Goncalo Guedes (knee) face late fitness checks.

Yerson Mosquera (knee), Leon Chiwone, Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez (all ACL) remain sidelined.

Everton could welcome Abdoulaye Doucoure back after he missed their 1-1 draw at Brentford for personal reasons.

Seamus Coleman (calf) could return but Armando Broja (leg), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (hamstring), Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil (both knee) and Orel Mangala (ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Wolves host Everton at Molineux on Saturday 8 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Wolves have lost one of their last seven meetings against Everton (W5, D1, L1).
  • Everton have won one of their last seven visits to Wolves (W1, D3, L3).
  • Victory will see Everton do the league double over Wolves for the first time since 2020-21 season.
  • 13 of Wolves’ 37 league goals this season were scored by Matheus Cunha.
  • No English player has produced more blocks this season coming into this matchweek than Everton’s James Tarkowski (34).

Prediction

Now that their FA Cup adventures are over following a scrappy if unfortunate defeat at Bournemouth where they played well and came from behind to draw – before losing out on penalties, Wolves now need to put that loss behind them and quickly regroup but Cunha is a huge miss up front given his goalscoring exploits.

Everton meanwhile certainly dug in to snatch a clinical 1-1 draw at Brentford where they had to defend for much of the game, but this is now a chance for them to show their attacking flair which was evident in an entertaining home draw against Manchester United days earlier.

If Everton do indeed turn up and get on the front foot early, I can see them taking the win as Wolves face a tough task in adapting to playing without Cunha given how key he has been since Vitor Pereira’s arrival.

Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Everton

Result: Wolves 1-1 Everton
