2024-25 League One: Week 35 – Huddersfield vs Wrexham

Huddersfield meet Wrexham in a huge League One showdown in the race for promotion.

Victory could see Huddersfield climb to fifth if Stockport loses elsewhere, whilst Wrexham can go second with a win if Wycombe lose to Burton Albion.

Team News

Huddersfield have no fresh injury concerns following their 2-1 win at Stevenage last weekend.

Radinio Balker (unspecified), David Kasumu (hamstring), Matty Pearson (calf), Tom Iorpenda (back), Rhys Healey, Herbie Kane, Tom Lee, Mickel Miller, Ruben Roosken and Danny Ward (all knee) remain ruled out.

Wrexham have no fresh injury concerns to report but could welcome Steven Fletcher back into contention up front, as manager – Phil Parkinson looks to rotate his forward selection after a goalless draw against Bolton.

Andy Cannon (ACL),  Callum Burton (thigh), Luke Bolton and Will Boyle (both calf) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Huddersfield host Wrexham at John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday 4 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

With just ten points from their last nine games, Huddersfield are lucky that other teams around them in the promotion push have also hit similarly-timed ruts but they now must try and build on their clinical win at Stevenage, where they defended resolutely after twice taking the lead.

Wrexham meanwhile managed just one shot on target in a tense if scrappy goalless draw against Bolton but their away form is in more decent shape at the moment, which will give them some belief despite their poor away record at Huddersfield where I think that they might just take a draw.

Huddersfield though aren’t in good home form and given their injury woes, I do feel that they might endure another draw against Wrexham this season, although there will hopefully be goals this time round.

Prediction: Huddersfield 1-1 Wrexham

Result: Huddersfield 0-1 Wrexham
