2024-25 League 2: Week 34 – AFC Wimbledon vs Bromley

AFC Wimbledon meet Bromley in a blockbuster South-London showdown in 2024-25 League Two.

If Bradford and Doncaster slip up elsewhere, victory could see AFC Wimbledon climb as high as second and into the automatic promotion spots.

Bromley will stay tenth with a win unless they take victory and Salford suffer a heavy defeat to Bradford in the lunchtime kick-off.

Team News

AFC Wimbledon have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw at Colchester last weekend.

Bromley could again be without Harry McKirdy after he missed their midweek defeat to Bradford with a minor injury.

Danny Imray is still sidelined with an unspecified injury.

When is Kick-Off?

AFC Wimbledon host Bromley at Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday 1 March at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

With one defeat in 17 league games but having stuttered to draws at Fleetwood Town and Colchester in their last two outings, AFC Wimbledon certainly are a tough team to beat and more so at home where they’ve been incredibly resilient defensively but clinical up front.

Bromley though will be considered underdogs in this South London derby but after they just lacked the clinical final touch in a tough defeat to Bradford, I expect them to produce a similar gritty performance especially with Michael Cheek finding form again in time for this Golden Boot six-pointer against the Dons’ Matty Stevens.

With local pride at stake on a massive day for South London across football and AFC Wimbledon difficult to beat at home since late November, I do feel that this could well be a gritty game for the faint-hearted but there should be goals in both teams so a draw would be a fair outcome.

Prediction: AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Bromley

Result: AFC Wimbledon 0-1 Bromley
