2024-25 League 1: Week 34 – Leyton Orient vs Charlton

Leyton Orient meet London rivals, Charlton at Brisbane Road in a blockbuster clash in the race for 2024-25 League One Play-Offs. 

Locked on 53 points in sixth and seventh positions respectively on goal difference, victory could see Leyton Orient climb to fifth if Huddersfield lose elsewhere, whilst Charlton will leapfrog their hosts with a win and potentially into fifth should the Terriers lose.

Jack Currie is suspended for Leyton Orient following his red card in their midweek loss at Birmingham City.

Sean Clare, Dan Happe, Tom James, Ollie O’Neill, Jack Simpson (all unspecified), Omar Beckles (hamstring) and Jordan Graham (knee) remain sidelined.

Charlton have no fresh injury concerns following Greg Docherty’s return to training after he missed the Addicks’ win over Exeter due to illness.

Prediction

Having hit a rut on the road against two of their least favourable teams in terms of away record at Bolton and Birmingham’s grounds, Leyton Orient should bounce back on their home soil especially with a point to prove after Currie’s controversial red card at Birmingham.

Charlton meanwhile are in solid form and absolutely thrashed Exeter last weekend at home so should definitely believe that they can inflict a psychological blow on their London rivals, especially if can score first in East London.

I however do see this being a very close battle with both teams eventually grinding out a draw.
