2024-25 Premier League: Week 26 – Everton vs Man Utd

Everton meet Manchester United in a mid-table Premier League battle at Goodison Park.

Victory will lift Everton up to 12th in the table, whilst Man Utd can leapfrog their hosts into 12th position with a win.

Team News

Abdoulaye Doucoure is available for Everton after he was suspended for their win at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Armando Broja (leg), Nathan Patterson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (both hamstring), Youssef Chermiti (thigh), Seamus Coleman (calf), Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil (both knee) and Orel Mangala (ACL) remain absent.

Man Utd could welcome Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro back from illness following their 1-0 loss at Tottenham.

Manuel Ugarte (knock) faces a late fitness test.

Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo (both muscle), Lisandro Martinez (knee), Mason Mount (leg), Amad Diallo (ankle), Tobias Collyer (knock), Altay Bayindir and Luke Shaw (both unspecified) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Everton host Man Utd at Goodison Park on Saturday 22 February at 12:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Everton have lost each of their last five league meetings against Man Utd (L5).
  • Man Utd have lost one of their last five league visits to Everton (W3, D1, L1).
  • Utd have scored 11 goals in their last four meetings against Everton without conceding.
  • Coming into this matchweek, no defender has made more clearances this season than Everton’s James Tarkowski (161).
  • No Man Utd player has lost more aerial battles in the top-flight this season than Rasmus Højlund (56).

Prediction

Now up to 14th in the table and 13 points clear of the relegation zone, this is a great chance for Everton to kick on and try to climb as high as they can because they’ve found a proper counter-attacking spark which Palace certainly couldn’t handle.

Man Utd meanwhile were pretty lacklustre at Tottenham with little attacking quality and creativity amidst wasteful finishing, so a huge improvement is needed yet their injury crisis is pretty worrying as evidenced by a youthful bench which left Ruben Amorim no option than to keep his senior players out there for the whole game.

Unless the Red Devils turn up with fresh desire and a step forward, I really don’t see Everton losing this lowly mid-table clash because the momentum is with them currently.

Prediction: Everton 1-0 Man Utd

Result: Everton 2-2 Man Utd
