2024-25 Premier League: Week 25 – Liverpool vs Wolves

Liverpool meet Wolves at Anfield in a huge Premier League clash with implications at both ends of the table.

Victory will move Liverpool seven points clear at the summit ahead of second-placed Arsenal, whilst Wolves can move five points clear of relegation with a win.

Team News

Liverpool could be without Cody Gakpo after he suffered a knock in their 2-2 draw at Everton in a midweek Merseyside derby.

Curtis Jones is suspended after he was red carded at full time against the Toffees, whilst Joe Gomez remains absent with a hamstring injury.

Wolves will be without Hwang Hee-Chan after he suffered a hamstring injury in their FA Cup Fourth Round victory at Blackburn last weekend.

Boubacar Traore (illness) could return but Jorgen Strand Larsen (muscle), Yerson Mosquera (knee), Leon Chiwone, Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez (all ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Wolves at Anfield on Sunday 16 February, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Despite their dominance in the Merseyside derby, two sloppy marking errors from Liverpool allowed Everton to snatch a point so small defensive improvements will be needed but I expect another strong performance from Arne Slot’s Reds.

Wolves meanwhile have a big opportunity to put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone but after their recent away struggles in the league, they must be defensively solid but equally clinical if want any chance of a result.

I however just can’t see Liverpool losing this if they turn up and play with control and a resilient defence but Wolves should give them bit of a test, given that Liverpool have a rescheduled trip to Aston Villa to come in midweek.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Wolves

Result: Liverpool 2-1 Wolves
