Ipswich meet Southampton at Portman Road in a Premier League relegation six-pointer showdown.
Victory will lift Ipswich out of the relegation zone if Leicester fail to beat Everton, whilst Southampton will stay bottom but can move to within eight points of safety if Leicester lose their game.

Wes Burns is ruled out for Ipswich after he suffered an ACL injury in their 4-1 loss at Liverpool last weekend.

Ipswich host Southampton at Portman Road on Saturday 1 February at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Ipswich have avoided defeat in five of their last six Premier League meetings against Southampton (W3, D2, L1).
- Southampton have won one of five previous Premier League trips to Ipswich (W1, D1, L3).
- Both teams have scored in each of their last three Premier League meetings, with Ipswich having netted five goals to Southampton’s seven.
- Ipswich have conceded eight goals without scoring in their two league games at home in 2025 (L2).
- Jan Bednarek has scored in both of Southampton’s last two matches (L2).
Prediction
Knowing that they were never realistically going to get anything at Liverpool, Ipswich certainly made a decent fist of it despite being defensively outplayed but this is a must-win if they want to boost their survival chances, yet they need to put their last two home horror shows behind them and show more clinical quality.
Southampton meanwhile did well initially to lead Newcastle but were simply outclassed despite a valiant attacking effort which offers some confidence, yet this is absolutely must-win otherwise they’re certainly destined for the drop barring a miracle.
On that note, I don’t expect a quality game between these two teams with vulnerable defences but if Ipswich score first then I wouldn’t be surprised if they go on and win this.
Prediction: Ipswich 2-1 Southampton
Result: Ipswich 1-2 Southampton
