England winger, Chloe Kelly has joined Arsenal on loan from Manchester City until the end of 2024-25 season.

Kelly’s contract at City expires at the end of June 2025 but with her game time limited this season in which she has scored twice and created two assists in just 11 appearances for Gareth Taylor’s Cityzens, she was linked with a move to either Brighton or Manchester United as she targets a place in England squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

Kelly rejected Brighton’s offer due to wanting to stay in Manchester for personal reasons, whilst City refused to accept an offer from their local rivals and instead agreed a loan move with Arsenal for the 27 year-old who had taken to social media platform, X, to criticise City for dictating which club she can and can’t join.

Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Renee Slegers has welcomed Kelly’s return as she spoke of her qualities.

“Chloe is an exciting attacking player and will be a great addition to our squad as we approach the second half of the season. She’s direct and explosive, with huge natural talent and ability. We’re all looking forward to working with Chloe as an Arsenal player in the coming months.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Chloe back to Arsenal. As an academy graduate, we’ve been proud to see the career she’s gone on to enjoy, both at club and international level. We’re delighted she’ll be representing Arsenal again as we aim to compete for honours this season.”

The move consequently will see Kelly rejoin her first senior club where she managed five goals in 16 appearances between 2015-17 before she joined Everton permanently in January 20218, having enjoyed two loan stints with the Toffees during her original spell at Arsenal.
