2024-25 Premier League: Week 23 – Brighton vs Everton

Brighton & Hove Albion entertain relegation battling Everton at the AMEX Stadium.

Victory will lift Brighton up to eighth in the table, whilst Everton will stay 16th with a win.

Team News

Goalkeeper, Jason Steele is ruled out for Brighton with a shoulder injury.

Jack Hinshelwood, Matt O’Riley (both knee) and Lewis Dunk (muscle) face late fitness checks.

Brajan Gruda (unspecified), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), James Milner (hamstring), Evan Ferguson (ankle), Igor Julio and Mats Wieffer (both thigh) remain sidelined.

Everton could welcome Dwight McNeil back from a knee injury which had sidelined him in recent weeks.

Armando Broja (leg), Youssef Chermiti (thigh), Seamus Coleman (calf), James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Everton at AMEX Stadium on Saturday 25 January at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Still on the cusp of the fight for European qualification, Brighton need to continue their winning run now that their attacking quality is once again clicking as evidenced by a clinical win at Manchester United, where they looked the more composed team with a solid defensive effort.

Everton meanwhile will head into this game full of confidence after a well-executed first-half demolition of Tottenham using their pace to punish wide defensive spacious gaps, yet they can’t afford to switch off like they did for Spurs’ two futile goals so a more solid defensive display is needed.

Nevertheless I do expect Everton to provide a tougher test for Brighton but the Seagulls should have enough quality to scrape a win.

Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Everton

Result: Brighton 0-1 Everton
