2024-25 Premier League: Week 22 – Man Utd v Brighton

Manchester United meet Brighton & Hove Albion in a mid-table Premier League encounter.

Victory would see Utd climb to 11th in the table, whilst Brighton can reclaim ninth with a win.

Team News

Diogo Dalot is available for Man Utd after he was suspended for their comeback 3-1 win against Southampton in midweek.

Jonny Evans (muscle), Mason Mount (leg), Victor Lindelöf and Luke Shaw (both unspecified) are still sidelined.

Brighton will be without Brajan Gruda due to an unspecified injury.

Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), James Milner (hamstring), Jack Hinshelwood (knee), Diego Gomez (fitness), Evan Ferguson (ankle), Igor Julio and Mats Wieffer (both thigh) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday 19 January at 2pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Having seen a largely flat performance against Southampton saved by Diallo, Man Utd really need to start stepping up because they can’t rely on Diallo to save their bacon as he has done at times this season and show more consistency if want to push for a top-half finish.

Brighton meanwhile clinically dispatched Ipswich in a well-executed performance in which they were made to work for both goals, but they will probably start this as favourites and I can see them kicking on if can score first now that their form is in a more solid position.

In fact I do think that Brighton will have just too much for Man Utd because their confidence is better and they do have plenty of more capable goalscoring threats than the hosts, who just seem to lurk from game to game with no clear momentum.

Prediction: Man Utd 1-2 Brighton

Result: Man Utd 1-3 Brighton
