Relegation-battling Everton face struggling Tottenham Hotspur in a big Premier League clash.
Victory will see Everton stay 16th in the table, whilst Tottenham can climb to 12th if Manchester United fail to beat Brighton.
Team News
Everton have no fresh injury concerns following their midweek loss to Aston Villa.
Armando Broja (leg), Youssef Chermiti (thigh), Seamus Coleman (calf), Dwight McNeil (knee), James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) remain absent.
Tottenham could welcome Fraser Forster back after he missed their last four matches due to illness.
Yves Bissouma (knock) and Brennan Johnson (calf) are doubts for selection.
Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Mickey van de Ven (leg), Cristian Romero (quad), Rodrigo Bentancur (concussion), Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner (all hamstring) are sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Everton host Tottenham at Goodison Park on Sunday 19 January in a 2pm GMT kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Everton are winless in their last eight meetings against Tottenham (D4, L4).
- Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 11 league visits to Everton (W3, D8).
- Everton have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven home games against Tottenham in all competitions, which came in a 0-0 draw in the top-flight in November 2021.
- Out of the 17 teams above the relegation zone coming into this matchweek, no team has scored fewer goals than Everton (15).
- Dominic Solanke has won more aerial battles than any other Spurs player in the league this season (33).
Prediction
Despite their stubborn defensive efforts against Villa aside from a poor moment which proved costly, Everton were let down by their poor end product and they do need to start finding goals and wins so a big effort is needed here if they’re to find a win to kick-start a move away from the drop.
Tottenham though were largely outplayed in their defeat at Arsenal but they did well to take the lead initially from a set-piece, but this is a more winnable game if they can be more clinical than in their last two games although patience might be needed initially to beat Everton’s defence.
I however just can’t see Spurs losing this if their attack can find composure in their end product as Everton do look there for the taking if not clinical enough.
Prediction: Everton 0-2 Tottenham
Result: Everton 3-0 Tottenham
