2024-25 League 2: Week 27 – Bromley v Colchester

Bromley look to return to winning ways in a League Two clash against Colchester United.

Depending on results elsewhere, victory could see Bromley climb to tenth in the table, whilst Colchester can climb to 14th if Gillingham, Barrow and Fleetwood all lose elsewhere.

Team News

Nicke Kabamba could make his debut for Bromley after he was ineligible for their FA Cup exit at Newcastle.

Kamarl Grant is also back from suspension and is expected to return straight back into the starting line-up.

Colchester could be without Ellis Iandolo due to a hamstring injury as he faces a late fitness test.

Samson Tovide (hamstring) and Rob Hunt (unspecified) could also be available for selection if match fit.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Colchester at Hayes Lane on Saturday 18 January at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bromley drew 1-1 in their only previous meeting against Colchester in September 2024, albeit away from home.
  • Colchester are making their first league visit to Bromley, although they did win 4-0 in a FA Cup trip in November 2009 in the First Round.
  • Seven of Michael Cheek’s 13 league goals for Bromley this season have been scored at home.
  • Colchester are winless in their last six league trips to London-based opposition (D2, L4).

Prediction

With their FA Cup run now over following a gutsy resilient display in a 3-1 loss at Newcastle, Bromley now need to refocus on their league duties because they’ve got a solid chance of pushing for the play-offs if can kick-start a new unbeaten league run with a win here after suffering two contrasting back-to-back defeats.

Colchester though are winless in their three games since the turn of 2025 in all competitions but their away record in the league is pretty poor with just one win, yet seven draws on the road underlines why they can’t be underestimated coming into this game given that they’ve got more draws (12) than any team in the division this season.

I however do expect Bromley to put their learning experience from the trip to Newcastle into action here and if they can polish their end product, I can see them having enough for the win.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Colchester

Result: Bromley 0-1 Colchester
