Brentford host Manchester City at the Gtech Community Stadium as both teams look to continue their push for an European spot.
Victory will lift Brentford up to ninth if Fulham lose elsewhere, whilst Man City can go fourth with a win if Chelsea lose their home clash against Bournemouth.
Team News
Ben Mee is set to return for Brentford after he missed their shock FA Cup exit against Plymouth with a muscle injury.
Josh Dasilva (knee), Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (joint), Kristoffer Ajer (ankle), Ethan Pinnock and Aaron Hickey (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
Man City have no fresh injury concerns as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne feature amongst several regulars looking for a recall, having been rested for their FA Cup victory over Salford.
Ruben Dias (muscle), John Stones (foot), Oscar Bobb (leg) and Rodri (knee) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford host Man City at Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday 14 January at 7:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have won two of their seven previous Premier League meetings against Man City (W2, L5).
- Man City have won two of their three previous Premier League trips to Brentford (W2, L1).
- Erling Haaland has scored three goals in City’s last two meetings against Brentford.
- Nine of Bryan Mbeumo’s 13 league goals for Brentford this season have been scored at home.
- City are unbeaten in three league visits to London-based opposition this season (W2, D1).
Prediction
Following their disappointing FA Cup loss to Plymouth amidst squad rotation, I am expecting Brentford to be at full strength but they must be as clinical as they were in their last league outing which saw them demolish Southampton, but equally as strong defensively.
Man City likewise will be at full strength after resting their key players in a ruthless FA Cup victory over Salford and have now won three games on the bounce in all competitions, which shows that they’re again nearing their best even if the actual performances aren’t pretty at times.
Nevertheless, I am expecting a tough game because Brentford are strong at home and particularly on the counter-attack, but Man City should just have too much if can continue to build on recent improvements.
Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Man City
Result: Brentford 2-2 Man City
