2024-25 FA Cup: Third Round – Millwall vs Dagenham & Redbridge

Millwall host London rivals, Dagenham & Redbridge in the third round of 2024-25 FA Cup.

Victory will see Millwall reach the fourth round for the first time in five years, whilst Dagenham & Redbridge look to progress beyond this stage for the first time since 2002-03 season.

Team News

Romain Esse isn’t expected to be available for Millwall as he closes in on a transfer to South-London rivals, Crystal Palace.

Jake Cooper and Danny McNamara (both knee) could return if match fit but Duncan Watmore (quad), (Josh Coburn (foot) and Aidomo Emakhu (groin) remain absent.

Dagenham could be without Sam Ling and Dion Pereira due to injuries.

When is Kick-Off?

Millwall host Dagenham & Redbridge at The Den on Monday 13 January at 7:30pm GMT, live on ITV4 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Millwall won their only previous tie against Dagenham & Redbridge via a 5-0 victory in a replay at this stage in 2011-12 season, following a goalless draw away in the original tie.
  • Dagenham & Redbridge lost 5-0 on their only previous visit to Millwall, which came at this stage in a replay in January 2012.
  • Millwall have lost one of their last five FA Cup matches against lower league opposition (W3, D1, L1), albeit in a fourth-round replay at Rochdale in February 2018 after drew 2-2 at home in the original tie.
  • Two of Dagenham & Redbridge’s three goals in this season’s main tournament came in the second half.

Prediction

Although they haven’t won yet under new boss – Alex Neil, Millwall showed their fighting quality to come back at Sheffield Wednesday for an eventual 2-2 draw – having led briefly from behind but they have to now find a way to step up with their top goalscorers – Esse and Watmore both unavailable.

Dagenham & Redbridge should therefore feel slightly confident at causing another cupset away to a London rival after they beat AFC Wimbledon in the last round, plus they can afford a nice cup run given that they currently sit mid-table in the National League.

Nevertheless I do expect Millwall to find a way to win this but it won’t be easy given their absent goalscorers and the Daggers will be up for a second scalp within the capital.

Prediction: Millwall 2-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Result: Millwall 3-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
