2024-25 FA Cup: Third Round – Tamworth vs Tottenham

Tamworth look to cause a giant killing as the non-league club entertain Tottenham Hotspur in the Third Round of 2024-25 FA Cup.

Victory would see Tamworth reach the Fourth Round for the first time in their history, whilst Tottenham look to progress beyond this stage for a 11th consecutive season.

Team News

Callum Cockerill-Mollett is unlikely to feature for Tamworth after he missed their FA Trophy loss to Sutton due to injury.

Ben Acquaye is still sidelined with an ACL injury.

Tottenham will be without midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur as he continues to recover from a concussion suffered in the first leg win of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Fraser Forster (illness) and James Maddison (suspension) will both be back in contention.

Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Mickey van de Ven (leg), Cristian Romero (quad), Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison (all hamstring) are sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Tamworth host Tottenham at The Lamb Ground on Saturday 11 January at 12:30pm GMT, live on ITV1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Tamworth’s first-ever meeting against Tottenham in all cup competitions.
  • Tottenham have avoided defeat in their last three FA Cup meetings against Non-League teams (W3).
  • Nathan Muya Tshikuna is the only Tamworth player to have scored more than one goal in this season’s FA Cup (2).
  • Spurs have won three of their last five FA Cup away trips to lower-league opposition (W3, L2).

Prediction

As underdogs and with nothing to lose, Tamworth can afford to mount a gutsy attacking display but they first must do all the defensive elements properly because this will be a much tougher test than many of the players are used to, but home advantage is perfect motivation.

Tottenham though are still in a hectic period having beaten Liverpool last Wednesday then got the North London derby at Arsenal this coming Wednesday amidst an injury crisis, so I expect serious squad rotation but this is theirs to lose realistically.

In fact, I just can’t see Spurs losing this if they turn up and play their best attacking football but patience might be needed if they’re to adapt to the 3G pitch, yet they should prove far too strong for Tamworth.

Prediction: Tamworth 0-3 Tottenham

Result: Tamworth 0-3 (AET) Tottenham
