2024-25 Premier League: Week 20 – Bournemouth vs Everton

Bournemouth host relegation-battling Everton at Vitality Stadium.

Depending on results elsewhere, victory could lift Bournemouth to fifth in the table.

A win coupled with a defeat by two goals or more for Crystal Palace could see Everton climb to 15th position.

Team News

Justin Kluivert is available for Bournemouth after he was suspended for their 2-2 draw at Fulham.

Tyler Adams (shoulder) could also feature if fit for selection.

Julian Araujo, Luis Sinisterra (both hamstring), Adam Smith, Marcus Tavernier, Marcos Senesi (all muscle) and Alex Scott (knee) remain absent.

Everton could again be without Dwight McNeil due to a knee injury, which had seen him miss their last two games.

Seamus Coleman (calf), James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Everton at Vitality Stadium on Saturday 4 January at 3pm GMT, untelevised in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have won five of their last seven league meetings against Everton (W5, L2).
  • Everton are winless in six Premier League trips to Bournemouth (D1, L5).
  • Bournemouth have kept just two clean sheets in six previous home meetings against Everton in the Premier League.
  • Andoni Iraola’s Cherries have conceded just one goal in their last three home matches (W1, D2).
  • Six of Everton’s last seven yellow cards were shown after half-time.

Prediction

Having looked the attacking team for much of their draw at Fulham, Bournemouth will be disappointed to have fell behind twice but they crucially recovered to claim a point, yet they need to stop throwing away winnable games.

Everton were totally outclassed by Nottingham Forest’s clinical counter-attacking play but they lacked composure in their own opportunities, which cost them a chance of at least nicking a draw.

With that in mind, I do expect an improvement from Everton but Bournemouth should have the edge if can be more clinical and cut out the defensive errors.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2-0 Everton

Result: Bournemouth 1-0 Everton
