2024-25 League 2: Week 24 – Gillingham vs Bromley

Gillingham host Bromley in a huge clash in the League Two play-off hunt.

Victory will leapfrog Gillingham above Bromley into 12th position, whilst Bromley can climb as high as 10th with a win depending on size of winning margin.

Team News

Conor Masterson is a doubt for Gillingham following a 1-0 loss at AFC Wimbledon.

Oli Hawkins is still sidelined with an unspecified injury, which had kept him out since late October.

Bromley have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw against Swindon, although Andy Woodman could rotate his starting line-up.

When is Kick-Off?

Gillingham host Bromley at Priestfield on Thursday 2 January at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Gillingham lost their first league meeting against Bromley by a 2-1 result away at Hayes Lane in December 2024.
  • Bromley are making their first league visit to Gillingham but lost 4-1 in a FA Cup visit in November 2006.
  • Both Gillingham and Bromley scored in their two previous competitive meetings, with the Gills 5-3 ahead on overall goal aggregate.
  • Jayden Clarke has scored in three of Gillingham’s last four home games (W2, D1, L1).
  • Michael Cheek has scored in each of Bromley’s last three away games in the league (W2, D1).

Prediction

Sat 13th coming into this round, Gillingham need to be more clinical than they were at AFC Wimbledon but they are in decent home form with one loss in four.

Bromley though are unbeaten in 11 matches plus a point ahead of the Gills, yet they need to be much sharper than they were against a resilient Swindon defence if want to continue their momentum now an outside promotion push is possible.

Nevertheless both teams will want a huge opening win of 2025 to boost their promotion bids, so I expect a tough battle but I do fancy Bromley to edge it if can score first and kick on even if Gillingham nick a goal.

Prediction: Gillingham 1-2 Bromley

Result: Gillingham 0-3 Bromley
