Brighton meet Brentford at AMEX Stadium in a mid-table Premier League clash.
Victory will lift Brighton to ninth in the table, whilst Brentford can leapfrog the Seagulls into tenth with a win.
Team News
Mats Wieffer is a doubt for Brighton after he suffered a knock in their 1-1 draw at West Ham.
Adam Webster (hamstring), Danny Welbeck (ankle), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Jack Hinshelwood, Solly March (both knee) and Jan Paul van Hecke (head) could be available.
James Milner (hamstring) remains sidelined.
Brentford will be without Kristoffer Ajer after he suffered an ankle injury in their loss to Nottingham Forest.
Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee), Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (joint), Sepp van den Berg (groin), Ethan Pinnock, Matias Jensen and Aaron Hickey (all hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Brighton host Brentford at AMEX Stadium on Friday 27 December at 7:30pm GMT, live on Amazon in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brighton have lost one of their six previous Premier League meetings against Brentford (W3, D2, L1).
- Brentford are winless in three previous Premier League trips to Brighton (D1, L2).
- Both teams have a 100% record from the penalty spot in six Premier League meetings, with Brighton scoring one penalty to Brentford’s two penalties.
- Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck has converted more shots onto target than any other Brighton player this season (13).
- Nathan Collins has had more touches on the ball than any other Brentford player this season (1,199).
Prediction
Currently winless in their last five games and having lacked composure in their end product at West Ham, Brighton need to start finding their defensive solidness again because they have the attacking quality but leaky at the back.
Brentford certainly improved their intensity against Forest after a lacklustre Carabao Cup exit at Newcastle, yet lacked their usual end product so I expect a response here but they will need to be defensively resilient if to end their away rut.
I however do feel that Brighton and Brentford will just cancel each other out such are their defensive issues coming into this game.
Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Brentford
Result: Brighton 0-0 Brentford
