Liverpool host Leicester in the Premier League’s concluding Boxing Day fixture.
Arne Slot’s Reds will stay top regardless of the result, whilst Leicester could start this game needing a win to climb out of the relegation zone if Wolves win elsewhere.
Team News
Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 6-3 win at Tottenham.
Conor Bradley (hamstring) and Ibrahima Konate (knee) remain sidelined.
Leicester could welcome Mads Hermansen back into contention after he missed their 3-0 loss to Wolves with a groin injury.
Wilfried Ndidi (hamstring), Abdul Fatawu (ACL) and Ricardo Pereira (muscle) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host Leicester at Anfield on Thursday 26 December at 8pm GMT, live on Amazon in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have won three of their last five league meetings against Leicester (W3, L2).
- Leicester have failed to win any of their last 12 league visits to Liverpool at Anfield (D2, L10)
- Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones both scored braces in two of Liverpool’s last three league clashes against Leicester.
- Cody Gakpo has scored in each of Liverpool’s last two home games (W1, D1).
- Leicester have conceded four goals and scored just once in their last two away games (L2).
Prediction
Sat top of the table with a four-point cushion following their demolition of Tottenham, Liverpool certainly have found their top form again and I am expecting more of the same quality here.
Many Leicester fans have written this game off and maybe Ruud van Nistelrooy should too as their home game against Manchester City on Sunday feels more winnable, so this really feels like a case of minimising their loss defensively.
I however do expect Liverpool to cruise to a routine win given Leicester’s defensive sloppiness and wasteful end product lately, especially in their loss to Wolves.
Prediction: Liverpool 4-0 Leicester
Result: Liverpool 3-1 Leicester
