Wycombe Wanderers host Bolton in a massive encounter in the League One promotion race.
Victory would see Wycombe sit top of the League One table at Christmas, whilst Bolton can go sixth until at least Saturday lunchtime with a win.
Team News
Wycombe could welcome Josh Scowen and Sam Vokes back after the pair failed fitness checks, which saw them miss the win at Shrewsbury last weekend.
Bolton will be without George Johnston and Ricardo Santos through suspension, after the pair picked up their fifth bookings in a 2-0 loss to Wigan.
Eoin Toal, Josh Sheehan and Chris Forino (all hamstring) are sidelined but Scott Arfield (calf) could return if fit.
When is Kick-Off?
Wycombe host Bolton at Adams’ Park on Friday 20 December at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wycombe have won five of eight previous league meetings against Bolton (W5, L3).
- Bolton have won one of their four previous visits to Wycombe (W1, L3).
- There has never been a draw between Wycombe and Bolton in a competitive fixture.
- Wycombe have kept one disciplinary clean sheet at home this season.
- Bolton have claimed four points from two of their last four away games (W1, D1, L2).
Prediction
With the top three now split by just two points coming into the weekend, Wycombe will be motivated by the chance to sit top at Christmas if they play clinically like they did at Shrewsbury.
Bolton though are just outside the play-offs and were outclassed by Wigan so I expect a serious reaction, but they need to be more composed in their end product yet solid defensively given Wycombe’s fierce league form.
Johnston and Santos though are huge losses in Bolton’s defence which could suit Wycombe if they can attack the Trotters’ unfamiliar defence, and I do expect them to get a result here.
Prediction: Wycombe 2-1 Bolton
Result: Wycombe 0-0 Bolton
