BBC and ITV have secured UK broadcasting rights to 2026 & 30 FIFA Men’s World Cup.

This announcement continues the long-running partnership between the UK’s two biggest broadcasters, in-turn guaranteeing free-to-air coverage for two more tournaments.

The 2026 edition will also mark Gary Lineker’s final tournament as lead presenter of BBC’s coverage, following his decision to leave the broadcaster after the World Cup.

BBC Director of Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski is “delighted and excited” to see BBC retain joint UK coverage.

“The World Cup is magical, something the whole planet stops to experience, and we can’t wait to bring it to people across all platforms.”

ITV’s Director of Sport, Niall Sloane added: “We are looking forward to bringing these two tournaments free-to-air across ITV and ITVX.

“The World Cup always delivers some of the most memorable, historic and exciting moments in the sporting calendar and we are pleased to display the finest footballing action to the widest possible audience.”

FIFA Secretary General, Mattias Grafström is “delighted” that BBC and ITV have renewed their contract, with guarantee of widest audience reach for UK fans.

“We are delighted to be able to extend our partnership with the BBC and ITV for the next two editions of the tournament, as they will provide strong platforms in the UK to reach the widest audience possible and optimise the viewing experience.”

The 2026 edition will be held across Canada, Mexico and USA, whilst the 2030 edition will be hosted across Morocco, Portugal and Spain – alongside three matches in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay to mark the competition’s 100th anniversary.
