2024-25 Premier League: Week 15 – Man Utd v Forest

Manchester United meet Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford as both look to bounce back from midweek Premier League losses.

Victory will see Utd leapfrog their visitors and move into the top ten, whilst Forest can go fifth with a win.

Team News

Luke Shaw is ruled out for Man Utd after he missed their midweek loss at Arsenal with an unspecified injury.

Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez will return from suspension but Jonny Evans (knock) and Victor Lindelöf (groin) remain absent.

Forest have no fresh injury concerns following their loss at Manchester City.

Ibrahim Sangare (hamstring) and Danilo (ankle) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday 7 December at 5:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Man Utd have won eight of their last nine Premier League meetings against Forest (W8, L1).
  • Forest have lost each of their last five league trips to Man Utd (L5).
  • Utd conceded first in both league meetings against Forest last season.
  • Utd have scored seven goals in their last two league games at home without conceding (W2).
  • Forest’s Chris Wood has converted 16 shots onto target this season.

Prediction

With Ruben Amorim’s honeymoon period as Utd boss now over with more positive attacking play, they now need to start kicking on but the defeat at Arsenal did expose their vulnerability at set pieces although they’re on an upward trend.

Forest certainly were unlikely to get anything at Man City but after another woeful away display, they really could do with a return to their more balanced style with sharper end product.

The first goal therefore feels vital because if Forest go ahead, they could get a point if defend well but I have a feeling that Man Utd will bounce back and get a routine win.

Prediction: Man Utd 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Result: Man Utd 2-3 Nottingham Forest
