Manchester United entertain Everton at Old Trafford in Ruben Amorim’s first Premier League game at home.
Man Utd can go as high as seventh with victory if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Everton will stay 15th with a win or if those below them fail to match or better their result.
Team News
Jonny Evans is a doubt for Man Utd after he missed their 3-2 Europa League win over Bodø/Glimt with a knock.
Harry Maguire (calf), Leny Yoro (ankle) and Victor Lindelöf (groin) remain absent.
Everton have no fresh injury concerns following their goalless draw at home to Brentford.
Youssef Chermiti, Armando Broja (both foot), James Garner (back), Tim Iroegbunam (foot) and Seamus Coleman (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd host Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday 1 December at 1:30pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have lost one of their last five league meetings against Everton (W4, L1).
- Everton are winless in their last 10 league trips to Man Utd (D4, L6).
- Utd’s Marcus Rashford scored in both appearances against Everton last season, albeit from the penalty spot on both occasions.
- Casemiro and Matthijs de Ligt are the only Utd players to score a headed league goal this season.
- Everton are looking to avoid going four games without a goal for the first time since February – March 2022.
Prediction
You have to feel that Amorim already has his work cut out because Utd were pretty lucky to beat Bodø/Glimt, particularly given how they started well then went defensively sloppy before Rasmus Højlund’s brace completed a comeback.
If compare that display to their 1-1 draw at Ipswich then my worry is that Utd will start well before dropping off, only to come back fighting once conceded which could be tough if teams suss them out and just try to park the defensive bus.
Everton meanwhile were simply wasteful against Brentford even when had an one-man advantage, so I would like to see them show more composure up front but they were nevertheless defensively solid.
If they do that and can end their goalscoring blanks then they should nick a point, otherwise this will be a Man Utd home win.
Prediction: Man Utd 1-1 Everton
Result: Man Utd 4-0 Everton
