2024-25 UEFA Champions League: League Phase – Celtic vs Club Brugge

Celtic host Club Brugge in an important league phase fixture in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

Victory would see Celtic stay in the seeded knockout play-off spots, whilst Club Brugge can leapfrog their hosts into the seeded knockout play-off positions.

Team News

Celtic have no fresh injury concerns following their Scottish Premiership win at Hearts last Saturday, with only Odin Thiago Holm sidelined due to a calf injury.

Club Brugge will be without Bjorn Meijer (thigh) and Gustaf Nilsson (Achilles).

When is Kick-Off?

Celtic host Club Brugge at Celtic Park, Glasgow, on Wednesday 27 November at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 3 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Celtic’s first-ever competitive meeting against Club Brugge.
  • Club Brugge are playing away to Celtic for the first time competitively.
  • This fixture sees Club Brugge become the fourth Belgian club that Celtic have met in all UEFA competitions.
  • Celtic have kept one clean sheet so far in the league phase (W2, D1, L1).
  • Two of Club Brugge’s three goals in this phase came after half-time.

Prediction

Sat comfortably in mid-table and unbeaten at home, Celtic really should fancy their chances here if they can bring their strong attacking press and creativity, but defending has been their weak point in this competition.

Club Brugge meanwhile were lucky to beat Aston Villa last time out with a winning penalty, amidst a dominant performance which lacked a clinical edge in open play but they will need to be better if want a result.

I however just can’t see Celtic losing this if they are at their best no matter how difficult Club Brugge are to break down.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 Club Brugge

Result: Celtic 1-1 Club Brugge
