Alpine Secure Mercedes Power Units and Gearboxes

Alpine have secured a deal to receive Mercedes power units and gearboxes from 2026-30 F1 seasons.

Alpine are set to stop making their own works power units beyond next season as part of their HyperTech project, which comes as F1 introduces revamped technical regulations for 2026 season onwards.

Alpine confirmed that they have signed a ‘multi-year agreement’ with Mercedes to be their power-unit and gearbox supplier from 2026 season until at least the end of the 2030 season.

In the mean time, Alpine iterated that they “remains focused on performing in the strongest way possible in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.”

This announcement came just over a week since Alpine finished second and third at 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, which propelled them up to sixth in the constructors’ standings.

Here is Alpine’s statement in full.

“BWT Alpine Formula One Team, Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains and Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix have entered into powertrain and gearbox agreements beginning with the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season.

With this multi-year agreement, Mercedes-Benz will supply powertrains to BWT Alpine Formula One Team for the duration of the new regulatory era, from 2026 until at least 2030.

“In addition to the powertrain, BWT Alpine Formula One Team will also have Mercedes gearboxes from the 2026 season.

The team remains determined to deliver the best performances during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.”
