2024-25 UEFA Champions League: League Phase – Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen

Liverpool meet Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster league phase fixture in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

Victory would put Liverpool top of the table until Aston Villa play on Wednesday evening.

Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen could leapfrog his former club and go top if results elsewhere swing in their favour.

Team News

Ibrahima Konate is set to be available for Liverpool despite suffering a minor arm injury in their comeback win over Brighton to go top of the Premier League.

Alisson (hamstring), Diogo Jota (rib), Federico Chiesa (knock) and Harvey Elliott (foot) remain sidelined.

Bayer Leverkusen could be without Martin Terrier after he missed their goalless Bundesliga draw against Stuttgart with a knock.

Nordi Mukiele (thigh), Jeanuel Belocian (ankle) and Amine Adli (leg) are ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool host Bayer Leverkusen at Celtic Park on Tuesday 5 November at 8pm GMT, live on Amazon Prime in the UK.

Prediction

Unbeaten in three league phase fixtures with six goals from six different players, Liverpool certainly can’t be underestimated especially after a clinical comeback domestic win over Brighton with quick-fire goals.

Leverkusen though are an equally strong team but more leaky in defence which needs to be tighter against the likes of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, but their attack is capable of matching the Reds.

I am therefore anticipating a tough contest between these two quality teams, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the points are shared.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Result: Liverpool 4-0 Bayer Leverkusen
