2024-25 FA Cup: First Round – Tamworth vs Huddersfield

Tamworth host Huddersfield in the opening tie of the first round in 2024-25 FA Cup.

Victory would see Tamworth advance to the second round for the first time in 11 years, whilst Huddersfield seek to avoid suffering their earliest exit since 2011-12 season.

Team News

Tamworth have no fresh injury issues following their 2-0 National League loss at Southend United.

Huddersfield have no fresh injury concerns following their League One win over Exeter City.

Lee Nicholls (elbow), Michal Helik, Lasse Sorensen (both hamstring), Joe Hodge (groin), Josh Koroma (back) and Radinio Balker (ankle) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Tamworth host Huddersfield at The Lamb Ground on Friday 1 November at 7:45pm GMT, live on BBC Two in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Tamworth’s first-ever competitive meeting against Huddersfield in all competitions.
  • Huddersfield are visiting Tamworth at The Lamb Ground for the first time in a competitive fixture.
  • Two of Tamworth’s four goals in their Fourth Qualifying Round win over Macclesfield were scored by Nathan Tshikuna.
  • Huddersfield have won just one of their last five away ties in the FA Cup (W1, L4).

Prediction

Sat mid-table in the National League with a decent gap to the relegation zone at present, Tamworth can afford to give this game a proper go but their defence needs a huge performance with one clean sheet in last eight games.

Huddersfield meanwhile are in the promotion mix in League One and have found form in their last five games, during which they’ve kept four clean sheets and I do expect them to take this game seriously.

In fact if the Terriers go full strength and can score first, I can see just one result coming but Tamworth do have the attacking quality to mount a proper challenge, even if the luck of the FA Cup magic doesn’t shine on the hosts.

Prediction: Tamworth 1-2 Huddersfield

Result: Tamworth 1-0 Huddersfield
