2024-25 Premier League: Week Eight – Fulham vs Aston Villa

Fulham meet Aston Villa at Craven Cottage as both teams look to continue their bright starts to the season.

Victory would see Fulham leapfrog Villa into fifth if Newcastle and Brighton draw in their match.

Villa meanwhile can go fourth with a win.

Team News

Sasa Lukic is ruled out for Fulham after he suffered a shoulder injury during Serbia’s 2-0 win over Switzerland.

Jorge Cuenca (ankle) and Carlos Vinicius (calf) could return.

Villa could welcome midfielders, John McGinn and Amadou Onana back from hamstring injuries.

Jacob Ramsey (knock) could also feature but Ezri Konsa (hamstring) is ruled out.

Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings (both knee) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Fulham host Villa at Craven Cottage on Saturday 19 October at 3pm BST, untelevised in live the UK.

Prediction

Despite their strong run of form predictably having ended at Manchester City, Fulham undoubtedly gave a strong performance but were just undone by some poor end product and defensive mistakes which they can bounce back from.

Villa meanwhile will be relieved to have taken a draw against Manchester United in a game of wasteful quality, but they did at least look more competitive despite having endured a mentally tough game in midweek beforehand.

Unai Emery’s Villains though should be back to their usual standards here but with Fulham now a dangerous team, I do feel that this could well be a close game with both teams sharing the spoils.

Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Aston Villa

Result: Fulham 1-3 Aston Villa
