Wales host Montenegro at Cardiff City Stadium in their League B4 clash in 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
Victory can put Wales top of the group if Turkey fail to beat Iceland in Reykjavik, whilst Montenegro will stay bottom of the group regardless of the result.
Wins for Wales and Iceland though would confirm Montenegro’s relegation to League C with two matches to spare.
Team News
Wales have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-2 draw away to Iceland.
Montenegro also have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-0 loss away to Turkey.
When is Kick-Off?
Wales host Montenegro at Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff, on Monday 14 October at 7:45pm BST, live on S4C in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wales won 2-1 away in their only previous Nations League meeting against Montenegro in September 2024.
- Montenegro lost 2-1 in their only previous away visit to Wales in September 2011, which came in UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifying.
- Three of Wales’ four previous meetings against Montenegro ended in a 2-1 result, with the Welsh winning twice.
- Wales are yet to lose at home in 2024 (W1, D2), during which they drew 0-0 in each of their last two home matches.
- Montenegro have conceded five goals without reply in their three away matches in 2024 across all competitions (L3).
Prediction
After they blew away a two-goal lead in their eventual away draw to Iceland, Wales need to continue their attacking approach which is suiting them but try and avoid another meltdown if want to keep pace with Turkey.
Montenegro meanwhile are surely going to be relegated come end of this group phase so they need to realistically try and score first, and tighten up given how leaky their defence is on the road this year.
I however just don’t see Montenegro having enough because if Wales enjoy another strong start, they should be capable of seeing this game out if can avoid any silliness.
Prediction: Wales 2-0 Montenegro
Result: Wales 1-0 Montenegro
