England host Greece in a top of 2024-25 UEFA Nations League B2 clash.
Locked on six points apiece but behind Greece on goal difference, victory would see England go top of their group.
Greece will stay top with a win and move to within two games of promotion to League A.
Team News
Harry Kane is a doubt for England as he continues to recover from a leg injury, which he suffered in Bayern Munich’s 3-3 Bundesliga draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Jack Grealish misses out with a knock which has forced manager, Lee Carsley to call up Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento from the Under-21s squad.
Morgan Gibbs-White (ankle), Ezri Konsa and Kobbie Mainoo (both hamstring) are ruled out of this game, plus the trip to Finland on 13 October.
Greece have no fresh injury concerns to report coming into this match as Fotis Ioannidis misses out with a suspected adductor injury.
When is Kick-Off?
England host Greece at Wembley Stadium in a 7:45pm BST kick-off on Thursday 10 October, live on ITV1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is England’s first UEFA Nations League meeting against Greece, but are unbeaten in nine previous meetings in all competitions (W7, D2).
- Greece have failed to win any of their five away visits to England (D2, L3).
- England have kept clean sheets in four of their five home games against Greece in all competitions.
- Under Carsley, England have won both fixtures by a 2-0 result against Ireland and Finland respectively.
- Three of Greece’s five goals in the group were scored by Ioannidis.
Prediction
Although England recorded comfortable wins over Ireland and Finland last month, they did struggle to break the latter down in a dour performance which is a worry coming into this game that will be much harder given Greece’s form.
Greece though are without their main attacking goalscorer – Ioannidis, who will be a tough task to replace but is a chance for others to step up, yet England is a hoodoo away trip for the Greeks.
They however will surely relish this trip as a chance to spring a surprise if England are wasteful, but I don’t see a shock looming with Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer back in contention.
Prediction: England 1-0 Greece
Result: England 1-2 Greece
