Newly-crowned FRECA champion and Ferrari junior, Rafael Camara will join Trident for 2025 F3 season.
Camara is currently participating in the F3 post-season test for Trident following his FRECA title success, but has decided to commit his 2025 season to the Italian team and graduate into F3.
Upon confirmation of his drive, Camara was pleased to secure a spot at Trident – who has won the last two driver titles in F3 with Gabriel Bortoleto and Leonardo Fornaroli.
“I’m very happy to join Trident, it is such a great Team and it’s very nice to be part of it. I can’t wait to start working with everyone and see what we can achieve together.
The 19 year-old Brazilian is therefore targeting a rookie title challenge but is aware of the challenges ahead.
“Of course the expectations are high, I think next year we will for sure be targeting to fight for the championship; I know it will not be easy and we still need to do a lot of work for the moment as it is not only a new car but also a new team, so everything will be new for me.
“As I said, I can’t wait to start to work. I always want to win but we keep our head down and we do the best we can.
“My goal is to be prepared for the beginning of the season, to do a good with the team and do the best I can, always, and be on the top with Trident.”
Trident Team Principal, Giacomo Ricci added that he is “extremely happy and proud” to sign Camara, who he considers to be “an undeniably talented driver,” following his FRECA title.
This move will see a Ferrari Driver Academy member race for Trident in modern F3 for the first time, having last done so in 2018 with Giuliano Alesi when formerly titled GP3.
“Additionally, we are excited to renew our relationship with the FDA program and its drivers.”
Camara completes Trident’s line-up alongside Noah Strømsted and Charlie Wurz.
