2024-25 Premier League: Week Six – Ipswich vs Aston Villa

Ipswich Town entertain Aston Villa at Portman Road in a Premier League encounter.

Victory would see Ipswich move out of the relegation zone and up to 13th in the table, whilst Villa can climb to second with a win.

Team News

Kalvin Phillips is a doubt for Ipswich after he missed the Tractor Boys’ 1-1 draw at Southampton, due to a thigh injury.

Nathan Broadhead (hamstring) and Harry Clarke (Achilles) could both return.

Villa could be without Lucas Digne after he suffered an unspecified injury in their comeback league win over Wolves last weekend.

Manager, Unai Emery also has no fresh injury issues following Villa’s midweek Carabao Cup win at Wycombe.

Jaden Philogene Bidace (unspecified) is a doubt but Matty Cash, John McGinn (both hamstring), Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings (both knee) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Ipswich host Villa at Portman Road on Sunday 29 September at 2pm BST, televised live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Although they’re still winless, Ipswich have certainly shown a similar spirit akin to Luton last season, which certainly was evident in their fightback at Southampton despite a lack of ball control and end product.

Villa meanwhile made several changes at Wycombe so I do expect several regulars back fully fresh, which will be a positive if they can get at Ipswich’s defence and are clinical early enough ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

Ipswich though are a resilient team so this could be tougher than many expect but I can’t see Villa losing now that they’ve hit form.

Prediction: Ipswich 1-2 Aston Villa

Result: Ipswich 2-2 Aston Villa
