Manager, John Mousinho has signed a contract extension at Portsmouth.
Mousinho arrived at Fratton Park in January 2023 and last season saw him lead Pompey to promotion as League One champions.
This season though has seen Portsmouth struggle to adapt to life back in the Championship after a 12-year absence, as they sit 23rd with three points despite taking no wins.
Speaking about his decision to sign a contract extension, Mousinho commented: “I have loved every minute of my time at Pompey so far and am delighted to have agreed an extension to my contract.
“Winning the League One title last season is, of course, the highlight and now our full focus is on establishing this side in the Championship.”
Mousinho proceeded to thank Chairman, Michael Eisner and the board for their trust and support, to not just him but his coaching staff and players.
“I am grateful to Michael and the board for the faith they have shown in me, the coaching team and players, as well as for the support we continue to receive from our magnificent supporters.”
Eisner in-turn praised Mousinho and Sporting Director, Rich Hughes for their work in developing the club into a promotion-winning team, with Hughes too having signed a contract extension.
“I believe strongly in the power of partnerships to bring the very best out of people in business – I even wrote a book about it – and that counts for sport, too.
“John and Rich have done great things together for Pompey. They are totally aligned to our long-term strategy and both possess the enthusiasm, talent, intelligence and expertise to bring more success to Portsmouth Football Club.
“I’m very excited for this extension and looking forward to seeing more magic from them.”
Hughes is “incredibly happy” to have too extended his contract and can’t wait to continue the club’s upward progress,
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with John and all the staff at Fratton Park as we strive to build on what we’ve achieved over the past few years.”
